WHO: William and his issues
WHAT: A man starved for reading materials
WHERE: Negotiable, though probably near the wall-o-mystery
WHEN: After Ruth's tête-à-tête with the setting

Hey. It's William. [ He sounds distracted, which, oddly enough, means this is more to-the-point than usual: his words slightly clipped, fewer hesitations. ] I have a request. If you see any symbols or markings—write them down? Take a picture, carve them in a piece of wood, whatever. And make a note of where you found them.

I'm trying to put something together. [ In this place where everything's constantly falling apart. He's not being vague for the sake of it—it's hard to explain his conviction that the symbols matter. That they must mean something. It'd be harder still to explain the knot in his stomach, the feeling that if he'd only known what they meant, what Ruth had gone through could have been prevented. ]

We can meet [ here he lets out a breath that falls just short of laughter ] at your leisure. Thank you.

[ Ten seconds later: ] Let me know if you need an example.

[ ooc: HONESTLY DO WHATEVER YOU WANT WITH THIS, it's open for all your mystery letter needs and musings and I 1000% do not need William to be in charge. Threadjack away, say your character's already been collecting them, tell everyone to stop wasting their time, it's all good.

William-wise, you can reply here or meet up with him in person (he'll most likely be at the wall, huge shock) or both!! He's currently able to read minds and I'd love to play around with that, but if it's not your cup of tea that's totally fine too. ]

Most of them mean nothing to me, but I've seen these symbols repeated several times in the markings.

[He draws out three of them: , , and .]

Those are all runes. Sōwilō, tiewaz, and laguz are their names.
